“全校劇作”(WholeSchool Production)

是珠海哈羅學子每年都會參加的一項趣味戲劇活動

不同于專業(yè)的戲劇課

該項目旨在通過戲劇和音樂劇的形式

讓全校同學都能夠接觸并了解戲劇的魅力

在上一學年哈羅學子演出中英音樂劇《花木蘭》

今年音樂組與藝術組合作打造了

基于迪士尼動畫與百老匯音樂劇版本改編的

《獅子王》

再一次將學校對于戲劇的熱情

推向了高潮

《獅子王》作為一部經典迪士尼動畫電影,自1994年上映以來,陪伴了幾代人的成長。原版電影的音樂由作曲大師漢斯.季默與埃爾頓.約翰創(chuàng)作,并在1997年被改編成了音樂劇,在紐約百老匯與倫敦西區(qū)巡演。難忘的旋律以及激昂的舞蹈,令人印象深刻。《獅子王》的故事線索源于英國大師莎士比亞的戲劇《哈姆雷特》,而創(chuàng)作時導演充分結合非洲文化,劇中角色大多采用斯瓦西里語的詞匯命名,比如辛巴是“獅子”,木法沙是“國王”,娜娜是“天賦”,充分體現(xiàn)了文化的融合。

作為哈羅珠海學年“全校劇作”項目,《獅子王》的演員涵蓋了哈羅珠海所有的學生。音樂組與藝術組的老師們巧妙的通過音樂搭建劇情,每個年級都承擔其中一部分歌舞表演。而為了故事的完整性,哈羅珠海G9的IGCSE戲劇課程的同學擔起了重擔,通過創(chuàng)作獨立的旁白和領銜角色,以生動的方式將所有年級音樂表演串聯(lián)起來,形成了一出完美的演繹。

演出開始時,G5 班表演了美妙的歌曲《生生不息》,他們栩栩如生演繹動物游行,用空間意識投射和改變自己的聲音以適應角色,似乎將非洲大草原搬到了學校舞臺上。

G1和G2班的學生合唱了《迫不及待當國王》,接著是G7班的表演了刀疤的陰謀《做好準備》。

G3班的學生歡快地演唱了《Hakuna Matata》G4的學生用他們可愛的舞蹈動作和彭巴和丁滿的滑稽表演為故事帶來了一些浪漫的氣氛。

而在壓軸大戲《終極大戰(zhàn)》中,G6 的同學通過夸張的動作和運動技巧,演繹除了辛巴與刀疤的殊死搏斗,為正常劇目帶來了緊張的高潮。 每一個場景的變化都由學生自行完成,觀眾們在不同的場景中快速切換,對劇情的發(fā)展發(fā)出聲聲贊嘆。

除了戲劇表演,今年的《獅子王》劇目還融合了多種樂器表演,讓家長和觀眾們耳目一新。原作中的經典場景《今夜愛無限》一曲,就是由高年級的同學通過小提琴、薩克斯、鋼琴等樂器進行的四重奏。而在《驚逃狂奔》一幕中,同學們除了通過非洲鼓的演奏渲染氛圍,還融入了中國元素—— G8的學生還使用中國傳統(tǒng)大鼓,為“狂飆”的表演創(chuàng)造了強有力的背景音樂。

我們班在音樂劇《獅子王》表演了一首歌《生生不息》,這首歌表現(xiàn)的是對大自然和生命的敬畏,世間萬物生生不息。所有的動物都集結在了非洲大草原上,來慶祝小獅子辛巴的誕生。大家都十分快樂,十分開心見到下一任國王。出場的動物有大象、長頸鹿、犀牛、斑馬等等。其中,我扮演的是一只羚羊,我需要做出許多羚羊的動作,比如跳躍、飛奔等等,為此我排練很多次,最后呈現(xiàn)得惟妙惟肖,這真是個難忘的經歷

我演唱了獅子王里《迫不及待當國王》這個片段,我在里面扮演的是一頭壞獅子刀疤,我們表演的片段是我們正在集結鬣狗,密謀大事,準備去謀害辛巴的爸爸木法沙。這首歌很長,還是全英文的,我要把詞都給背下來,還需要邊唱邊表演,這對我來說挑戰(zhàn)很大,但是我還是每天在學校,在家都在聽,而且在背歌詞。最終在表演的那一天,我很出色地完成了這個表演。

我在獅王中演的是木法沙,是個正派角色,我演那段是我想去拯救我的孩子辛巴,但卻落入壞人的圈套,被推下懸崖。在排練的時候,老師跟我說,那段劇情我要在地上爬一圈,一開始我覺得難以接受,但我到舞臺之后,發(fā)現(xiàn)這反而成了表演的一種特色。開始排練的時候,有些動作我覺得非常尷尬,但是當我真正到了舞臺上、放下自己的時候,演的時候才不會有任何負擔,才能演出角色的精髓,也能收獲觀眾最大的掌聲。

哈羅珠海的學子以精湛表演對經典音樂劇《獅子王》的重新演繹,令人難忘!這一切都離不開這個學期幾個月以來學生和老師付出的時間和精力,這一份榮譽屬于每一位哈羅人。

在哈羅珠海,我們確保學生有機會獲得廣泛的學習工具。戲劇的使用是一個很好的方式,讓我們的學生發(fā)展他們的口語技能和使用語言的信心。今年,我們開始了IGCSE戲劇課程,事實證明該課程非常受歡迎。學生們研究從莎士比亞等經典作品到現(xiàn)代文本的劇本,也創(chuàng)作自己的戲劇作品。他們在小組中合作,也在自己的獨角戲中專研。我們的戲劇學生已經能獨當一面,在《獅子王》中帶領其他學生演出。接下來,我們將向所有高年級學生開放這個機會,通過戲劇媒介提供獨特的演講和語言發(fā)展課程。

Drama is a way of learning

that not only enhances expression,

collaboration and self-confidence, but also

promotes language skills

through situational interpretation,

and the famous Shakespeare plays have become

a global treasure in the academic world.

British Shakespeare"s plays are world-renowned.

Harrow has a long tradition of drama,

with many Harroviansmaking a name

for themselves in theatre, television and film,

including the well-known George Arliss and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Like all other Harrow BrandedSchools,

AISL Harrow Zhuhai enjoys

a world-class black box theatre,

and incorporates drama and performance

into the curriculum and school life,

carrying on Harrow"s century-old tradition.

As part of Harrow Zhuhai"s

annual drama programme,

theWhole School Production

serves as a fun drama event that

every Harrow Zhuhai student takes part in

in addition to professional

drama classes offered in the school

The programme aims to expose all students

To the appeal of performing arts through drama and musicals.

After the Harrow students" performance of

the bilingualmusical Mulan last year

The Music Team and the Arts Team have stepped up

and collaborated to create The Lion Kingfor this new year,

based on the Disney animation and Broadway musical version,

once again bringing the school"s passion for dramato the forefront.

The Lion King, a classic Disney animated film, has influenced generations since its release in 1994. The original film"s music was composed by master composers Hans Zimmer and Elton John. It was adapted into a musical in 1997 and toured on Broadway in New York and London West End. The unforgettable melodies and rousing choreography are impressive. The story of The Lion King is based on the play Hamlet by Shakespeare, and the director has taken full advantage of the African culture by naming most of the characters after Swahili words, such as Simba as "lion", Mufasa as "king" and Nana "gift", reflecting the fusion of cultures.

The Lion King was performed by all HarrowZhuhaistudents as part of the "WholeSchool Production". The music and art teachers have cleverly built the plot through music, with each grade taking part in the singing and dancing. And to link the integrity of the story, HarrowZhuhaiG9 students from IGCSE Drama class took up the responsibility of creating independent narratives and leading roles to link all the gradesmusical performances in a lively way, creating a perfect interpretation.

The show began with a wonderful performance of the song Circleof Lifeby G5, who seemed to bring the African savannah to the school stage by bringing to life a parade of animals,using spacial awareness, projecting and changing their voices to suit the characters.

The G1 and G2 students sang the chorusof I just Can"t Wait to be King, followed by G7"s performance of Scar"s plot Be Prepared.

The G3 students joyfully sang Hakuna Matata, while those of G4 brought some romance to the storywith their cute dance moves and the antics of Pumba and Timon.

And in the grand finale, The Battle Scene, the G6 students brought a tense climax to the normal play with their exaggerated movements and athletic skills, performing Simba"s fight to the death with Scar. The scene set-ups and changes were all done by the students themselves, and the audience switched quickly between scenes and let out a roar of admiration at the development of the play.

In addition to the theatrical performances, this year"s production of The Lion King also incorporated a variety of instrumental performances which surprised parents and audiences. The classic scene from the original production, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, was performed by a quartet of senior students through violin, saxophone, and piano. In the scene The Stampede, the students not only played African drums to create the atmosphere, but also incorporated Chinese elements - the G8 students also used traditional Chinese drums to create a powerful soundtrack for the exciting performance.

We performed a song Circle of Lifein The Lion King, which shows a reverence for nature and life, where everything in the world is born. All the animals had gathered on the African savannah to celebrate the birth of Simba. Everyone was very happy to meet the next king. There were elephants, giraffes, rhinos, zebras and many more animals. I played a gazelle and I had to do a lot of antelope movements, such as jumping, darting, etc. I rehearsed this many times and performed well on the stage. It was an unforgettable experience.

I sang the song I just Can"t Wait to be Kingfrom The Lion King, in which I played Scar, a bad lion, and we performed the clip where we were gathering hyenas and plotting something big to kill Simba"s dad, Mufasa. It was a long song, in English, and I had to memorise all the words,sing and perform it, which was a big challenge for me, but I listened to it every day at school and at home. I ended up doing a great job on the day of the show.

I played Mufasa in The Lion King, a decent character, and I played the part where I tried to save my boy Simba but fell into the trap of the bad guys and was pushed off a cliff. During rehearsals, my teacher told me that I had to crawl around on the ground for that part, which I found difficult to accept at first, but when I got on stage, I found that it became a feature of the performance instead. At the beginning of rehearsals, I found some of the movements very awkward, but when I really got on stage and put myself down, I was able to perform the role without any burden, and I was able to perform the essence of the character and gain the greatest applause from the audience.

Harrow Zhuhai"s students put on a superb performance in an unforgettable reinterpretation of the classic musical The Lion King! All this would not have been possible without the time and effort put in by students and teachers over the months of this term, an honour that belongs to every Harrovian.

At Harrow Zhuhai we ensure our students have access to a wide range of learning tools. The use of Drama is an excellent way for our students to develop their speaking skills and their confidence in using the language.This year we were able to start our IGCSE Drama course, which has proved very popular. The students have been examining scripts from classics such as Shakespeare to modern text. They have also been creating their own drama pieces. They have collaborated in groups and also worked by themselves on their monologues. Our Drama students have been able to showcase their acting skills, leading other students in The Lion King. We will open the opportunity to all of our Upper School Students by offering exclusive Speech and Language development classes through the medium of Drama.

nurturing Harrow students to become holisticindividuals,

developing their creativity and self-expression.

The Lion King has come to a

successful end this year and

we look forward to more exciting performances
